You are a PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) nurse managing critically ill post-operative patients. Each shift lasts 5 minutes. Untreated critical patients deteriorate in real time and can crash into a Code Blue. Treat them with the right interventions, answer evidence-based questions, stabilize and discharge patients — while new admissions keep rolling in from the OR. The clock is always ticking.
🎯 Objective
1
Read the Triage Zone (left sidebar)
Patients are sorted by priority: Priority 1 (Critical), Priority 2 (Warning), Priority 3 (Stable). Critical patients deteriorate every few seconds until treated — attend them first!
2
Assess Each Patient Card
Each card shows live vitals (HR, BP, SpO₂, Pain), active hardware lines, and the patient's clinical problem. Abnormal values are highlighted — always scan these first.
3
Tap an Intervention & Answer the Question
Choose Apply O₂, Titrate Meds, Reposition, or Escalate. A timed multiple-choice question tests your clinical rationale — answer before the bar runs out!
4
Stabilize & Discharge
Correct answers actually improve the patient's vitals; wrong answers make them worse. Get a patient stable with 2+ correct interventions and they'll be discharged to the floor for bonus points.
5
Watch for Code Blues & New Admissions
If a critical patient is ignored too long, they crash — Code Blue, big point loss. Meanwhile the OR keeps sending new post-op patients to your open beds.
💊 Intervention Buttons
💨
Apply O₂
Use when SpO₂ is dropping, airway is compromised, or patient shows signs of hypoxia. Tests airway management protocols.
💊
Titrate Meds
Use for abnormal BP, uncontrolled pain, or medication adjustments. Tests pharmacology and titration rationale.
🔄
Reposition Patient
Use for positioning concerns, post-surgical precautions, or to improve oxygenation. Tests safe mobility protocols.
🚨
Escalate to Provider
Use for deteriorating vitals, neurological changes, or emergencies requiring physician action. Tests escalation decision-making.
📊 Vital Sign Indicators
HR >120 or <50 = critical
SpO₂ <92% = critical
Pain ≥8/10 = critical

Pro Tip: Check the Criticality Triage Zone first — Priority 1 patients (red) are actively deteriorating and will Code Blue if ignored. Each intervention button can only be used once per patient, so match the intervention to the clinical problem. Build a streak of correct answers for escalating bonus points, and discharge stable patients to keep beds open for new OR admissions.
